Today, we got our Aqueous Reactions Test returned to us... or was that yesterday? I don't remember. Either way, the answers for the said test is posted up here; uploaded via slideshare.
We did some work on Oxidation and Reduction by going over pages 18 to 21 in the Aqueous Reactions Unit booklet. Remember that oxidation is the loss of electrons, and reduction is the gain of electrons and that the exchanging of electrons in a redox reactions occur simultaneously.
We went over the rules for assigning Oxidation Numbers. Note that the diatomic elements H2O2F2Br2I2N2Cl2 and pure elements have an oxidation number of zero. Also consider that the sum of the oxidation numbers in any neutral molecule is zero and that the sum in any ion is equal to the charge on the ion.
We were told to do questions 1 to 3, on the given practice worksheet "Assigning Oxidation Numbers". Also, Ms. Kozoriz swore by accident today. Just putting it out there.
Our next scribe will be the lovely Bernadette! :D

On todays chemistry class we did a Aqueous Reactions Titrations lab. We partnered up with 2 to 3 people and mix solutions. The materials we used are beaker, 3 micropipettes phenolpthalein indicator, 10 mL graduated cylinder, distilled water, 0.1 mol/L NaOH, and 0.1 mol/L H2SO4. We also did a review on the test for tomorrow Wednesday February 23, 2010. gabby 31 to scribe next.

Acids and Bases.
In todays class, we went over the "Chemical Aqueous Reactions Activity Sheet #1" which was for homework the day before. Then, we read through our notes that moved onto "Naming Acids and Bases" in our yellow booklet on page 9. We talked about Oxyacids and common acids and bases which our found on page 10. Afterwards we did a little practice sheet which is still found in our booklet on page 11. Once those were perfected we moved onto "Defining Neutralization and Balanced Neutralization Equations" on page 12. Using the knowledge of those notes Ms. K then lead us through the practice example on page 13. And so, our homework for today is on page 14 of our booklet and on Monday will be another lab based on Acids and Bases.

Scribe List
This is The Scribe List. Every possible scribe in our class is listed here. This list will be updated every day. If you see someone's name crossed off on this list then you CANNOT choose them as the scribe for the next class.
This post can be quickly accessed from the [Links] list over there on the right hand sidebar. Check here before you choose a scribe for tomorrow's class when it is your turn to do so.
