Wednesday, March 10

Today in class we went over and corrected the Redox: Reduction and Oxidation Test.

We also started a new unit called Atomic Structure.

We went over The Electromagnetic Spectrum also known as light energy.
Important terms are:

  • Frequency: Cycles per unit (the number of cycles that pass a point in one second)
  • Wavelength: The distance between successive crests or troughs
  • Amplitude: The distance from the rest or equilibrium position to the crest.

We also learned about the different types of Spectra:

  • Continuous Spectrum: Where all the wavelengths of light are represented as an Uninterrupted Sequence. (Think Rainbow)
  • Line Spectrum: Distinct colored lines rather than a rainbow (Where colors are separated by black).

Lastly we were supposed to read up until page 13 and answer questions 1-8. We will probably take up the answers next class.

The next scribe will be Clarissa.
